For actor Arun Rayadurgam, cinema is not just about acting — it is a continuation of the discipline he learnt on stage. With his debut film 1990’s now set to hit the Telugu screens, Arun’s story reflects his perseverance, guidance and undying love for acting.
Theatre was his first training ground. He moulded himself into a serious actor by playing tough roles over the years. At the heart of this journey was Nasar garu — one of the most respected actors in the Indian film world. Nasar sir not only guided him, but also gave Arun the opportunity to act in plays written and composed by him. His encouragement played a crucial role in Arun’s development.
Arun’s relationship with Nasar went beyond the stage. Arun was cast as the hero in a Tamil film that the senior actor himself composed. Although the film was not released after its completion, the experience was a valuable lesson for Arun and strengthened his confidence in his path.
In addition to theatre, Arun gained experience as a character artist in a few Kannada films. Later, he became a hero in the 1990s. An engineer by profession, Arun studied computer science at Satyabhama University, Chennai, and worked for HCL Technologies, Bangalore for a few years. Later, he trained at Balu Mahendra Film Institute and immersed himself completely in acting.
Today, as the 1990s come before the Telugu audience, Arun Rayadurgam stands out as a serious actor who has honed his skills in theatre, trained under the guidance of his gurus, and carries honesty in every role.
