“PaPa” Movie Review & Rating

papaa

Released in Tamil as “Dada” and grossing around Rs 40 crores there, this film was dubbed into Telugu as “Papa” and released in theaters. NRI Mrs. Neeraja Kota presented this film to the Telugu audience. Let’s analyze whether the magic created in Tamil has been recreated in Telugu as well.

Story:
“Papa” is a collection of unexpected twists and turns that occur in the lives of a couple of college students who fall deeply in love and cross boundaries before marriage. Director Ganesh Babu has made this film a heartwarming combination of youthful attractions, passions, misunderstandings, gaps between generations, egos between people, friendship, helpfulness, and most importantly, bonds and emotions. There is no doubt that his name as a director will be heard more in the future. Although the story seems simple, the narrative is crafted in an engaging manner and attracts the audience.

Analysis:
Although the actors playing the remaining roles, except Bhagyaraja and VTV Ganesh, are new, the audience connects emotionally with their characters. Kavin as the hero and Aparnadas as the heroine impress the audience with their performances. The role of Master Ian, who plays their son, is also captivating. Especially the climax scenes bring tears to the eyes of the audience. These heart-wrenching scenes are the main attraction of the film. The audience, who comes out of the theater with a heavy heart, gets the satisfaction of watching a feel-good film after a long time. Since the heroine Aparnadas resembles the star of the early career of Nayanthara, the film “Raja-Rani” starring Arya-Nayanthara comes to mind. However, this similarity is limited only to the genre.

Plus points:
After the direction and the wonderful acting of the actors, the cinematography and music add more strength to the film. The care taken in the translation is another attraction of the film “Papa”. Without feeling like a dubbed film, the audience gets the feeling of watching a straight film. The dialogues are impressive at some places and thought-provoking at others.

Minus points:
The editing could have been more lively. If two or three scenes had been added in the second half to show the conflict between the hero and heroine more effectively, the emotion would have been deeper. It would have been even better if the pain of single parenting and the bond between father and son had been given more importance. However, the heart-wrenching climax makes you forget these minor flaws and increases your respect for the director.

Summary:
“Papa” is a wonderful film that everyone who loves feel-good films must watch. This film reflects the high taste of NRI producer Mrs. Neeraja Kota. “Papa” will forever remain a film that introduced a tasteful producer to Tollywood.
